GREENS SUPPORT CAROONA FARMERS IN SENATE

Greens Senator, Bob Brown, has introduced a motion in the Upper House, which would allow the federal government to stop coal exploration in the Caroona area, until a water study is completed.
Mr Brown visited the blockade on the Liverpool Plains earlier this year, supporting farmers in their fight to prevent BHP Billtion from drilling for coal, until the full impact on groundwater is understood.
The Greens say a motion flagged today by National’s Senator, Barnaby Joyce, is a much weaker motion, calling for only state government intervention.
