MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED ABDUCTION OF A WOMAN NEAR GLEN INNES

A man has been charged over the alleged abduction of a Hunter Valley woman.

Police allege the 36-year-old man took the 33-year-old woman against her will just after 3am on Friday, and were last seen at around 8am on Saturday.

A search led police to a property on Pinkett Road in Red Range, about 30km east of Glen Innes, just after 5.30pm yesterday where the two were located.

The man was arrested and charged with eight offences including contravening an AVO, detaining a person, aggravated sexual assault, and failing to stop in a police pursuit.

He is due to appear before Armidale Local Court today.

The woman was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries.
