The under-18 Oxley Pioneers had a promising start to the Rugby League Country Championships, being held in Parkes this weekend.
Groups 2,3 and 4 players make up the representative Pioneers side, which proved too strong for the Northern Thunderbolts in their openning match.
On Sunday the Pioneers went down to the Hunter Rebels, 20 to 18.
Despite the narrow loss, the Pioneers are still assured of a spot in next weekend’s semi finals.
They’ll host the Western Rams at Tamworth’s Scully Park.
