Rail services between Singleton and Muswellbrook have returned to normal, after a derailment closed the line last week.
Work to repair the damaged section of track was completed yesterday, with the line reopening around 1 o’clock this morning.
The incident, which happened on Wednesday, destroyed more than 1500 sleepers when several wagons left the tracks and were struck by a locomotive travelling in the opposite direction.
Transport safety officers are still investigating.
