It’s an exciting day for football fans across the Northern Rivers, with the announcement Harry Kewell is coming to Lismore next month.
Kewell will line-up for Melbourne Heart against the Brisbane Roar in a pre-season A-league match at Oakes Oval on Sunday, August 25.
“To have the players of the calibre that play in the A-League now is just a great thrill for everybody involved in football.”
A $15,000 grant from the State Government helped secure the game, which is expected to generate $400,000 locally.
Already this month, sporting events have injected more than $5-million into the region.
“We’ve had things like the National Softball Championships last week and go-kart championships as well.”
