COUNCIL SET TO SPEND $165, 000 TO FUTURE PROOF BENDEMEER’S WATER SUPPLY

In a bid to future proof the water supply of Bendemeer, Tamworth council will consider installing a resin filter on the town’s bore to remove uranium.
If endorsed at tonight’s meeting, $165,000 will be spent to install the filter on the Airlie Road well.
Elevated levels of uranium were discovered in the Moonbi, Kootingal and Bendemeer supplies in August last year.
Despite being within the Australian guidelines – an independent report to council recommends the use of a resin filter to remove uranium from drinking water.
