History
Since aggregation in 1991, NBN’s market now stretches from the Central Coast in the south to the Gold Coast, Queensland in the north and west to Lightning Ridge.
This market has a population of over 2.3 million people, and is the fourth largest television market in Australia, behind Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
NBN Television is an independent affiliate of the Nine Network. The combination of the Network’s strong line-up of Australian and international programs as well as our locally produced one-hour NBN News bulletin 7 days per week has returned a winning formula with NBN dominating the TV ratings every year on record.
Over the decades NBN has locally produced many programs including Teen Beat, Saturday Date, Swallows Juniors, Star Search, High School Quiz as well as Beating Around the Bush and the ever popular Romper Room. We have covered many sporting events with our outside broadcast truck and facilities – including Rugby League Grand Finals, concerts for The Cure, Black Eyed Peas and The Eagles as well as Australia’s first High definition AFL coverage.
We take pride in our many awards and accolades but also in our accomplishments within the community through Telethons, raising close to $20M dollars for local charities. We remain community focused today with our many sponsorships and partnerships throughout our viewing area.
Big Dog
BIG DOG is just like a big kid. He rides a bike, plays football, surfs a little, fishes a lot and even cartwheels.. but most of all, always has fun. The Newcastle Knights are his favourite football team.
BIG DOG is often seen helping out in the community, and can be seen each evening when its time for BIG DOG and all his friends to go to bed and when he wishes them ‘Good Night Girls and Boys’.
