BIG WAVE SPECTACLE

The big wave spectacle along the Hunter coast continued today, with tow-in surfing even taking place at Bar Beach.
The swell has been up since last weekend, with only the bravest and most experienced big wave riders heading out.
Newcastle beach was also a popular choice for surfers and sightseers today, but Newcastle Council urged caution, and closed beaches and ocean baths for most of the day.

Your vision of a kayaker in the u.s catching and holding a shark, obviously with a cameraperson handy. Is pretty shameful, even though sharks are dangerous etc. They do not deserve to be mistreated in any shape or form. Particularly when it is on prime time news.
The oceans are the sharks kingdom and should be treated with respect and not shown to be some sort of amusing monsters being subject to degredation by humans. They are an important part of our oceans ecology and food chain. The shark involved here was obviously going to to die a painful, stressful and wasteful death at the hands of some thrillseekers.
You should refrain from showing this sort of vision. If this shark was a dolphin being handled this way, there would be outrage. Show some ethics and better judgement.
Look in Indonesia I’ve surfed almost alongside the reef sharks there. They are amazing! they did not threaten anyone. There are sharks on land that are a lot more dangerous. You should not encourage the mistreatment of any animal species. God forbid if that as a whale shown tonight, you would have to do a Rupert Murdoch. Don’t drop your standards to the gutter.
You have a great group of people on air at NBN and I am sure that even they would think this vision was offensive.
Please no more attacks on sharks.

Theo Drinkwater
