After years of community opposition, Wyong Shire Council has finally adopted a high-level strategy to guide the planning of Toukley over the next 20 years.
The plan aims to boost the local economy and accommodate growth by revitalising the town centre and encouraging residential living above shops.
Canton Beach is also set for a makeover, with proposals for tourist accommodation and restaurants along Beach Parade.
Council says steps are in place to protect the area’s unique character and environmental setting.
