FORMER NEWCASTLE CATHOLIC BROTHER CHARGED WITH MORE HISTORICAL INDECENT ASSAULTS

A former Catholic Brother has been charged with further historical indecent assault offences allegedly committed in the Newcastle region.

It follows an eight-year investigation as part of Strike Force Georgiana, into alleged child indecent assaults committed by the man.

The 88-year-old was first charged in March 2017.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested the man at a correctional facility at Silverwater yesterday.

He was charged with three counts of indecent assault on a man, who was a boy when he was allegedly assaulted in the early 1970s.

The former Brother was remanded in custody, and will appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
