An eight-year-old boy was last night rushed to hospital, after he was struck by a car at Cessnock in the Hunter Valley.
The incident happened on Allandale Road at around 8 o’clock on Friday evening, with family members providing first aid until paramedics arrived.
The child was taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition, suffering severe head injuries.
The driver of the car, a 55-year-old man was taken to Cessnock Hospital for mandatory testing.
