SAFEWORK CRACKS DOWN ON FORKLIFT SAFETY

A rise in the number of workplace injuries and deaths involving forklifts has prompted the state’s workplace safety regulator to crack down on dangerous worksites.

In March, SafeWork inspectors visited 180 businesses, issuing more than 90 notices.

In 20-15, Rachel Noble’s husband was killed while operating a forklift at a meat processing business in Frederickton.

The 28-year-old was not licensed to operate a forklift and was not being supervised.

The company was fined $375,000.
