MAN ALLEGEDLY PERFORMS INDECENT ACT IN FRONT OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL

A man has been charged with committing an act of indecency on the North Coast yesterday morning.

A 12-year-old girl was sitting alone at a bus stop on Skinner Street, near New Street, in South Grafton at around 8:30, when police say the man approached the girl.

Police say he tried to engage her in conversation, but when she did not respond, he allegedly committed an act of indecency towards her.

The girl told the man to go away several times before he left.

Police were contacted, and a 39-year-old man was arrested on New Street.

He was charged with intimidation, assault, offensive behaviour, and committing an act of indecency.

The man was refused bail and remanded to re-appear at Grafton Local Court on Monday.
