The mystery over bones found at a North Coast construction site has been solved.
Late this afternoon, police formally identified bones found during works on the new Grafton Bridge as those belonging to a domestic animal.
Workers were shocked to discover the bones while excavating on Monday afternoon, with police called to the site on Tuesday.
Construction on some parts of the $240-million build was stopped while forensic investigations took place.
