NEW ENGLAND BY-ELECTION: POLITICIAN PAYMENTS

Three parties and one independent candidate have shared in over $200-thousand, following last month’s New England by-election.

The Australian Electoral Commission has released the payment figures for those who claimed more than 4 per cent of first preferences votes.

The Nationals party received almost $153-thousand, while Labor tipped $26-thousand and the Greens just over $10-thousand.

Armidale Independent, Rob Taber received almost $16-thousand.

That means each first preference vote was worth around $2.70.
