Tamworth basketballer Nick Kay has become the first Thunderbolts player to be picked for Australia at senior level.
Averaging nearly 10 points and five rebounds per game for the Illawarra Hawks this season, the centre was rewarded with national selection.
It’s hoped the 12-man squad will back up for November’s World Cup qualifiers.
The Boomers open their campaign against Japan on August 8.
