- A 62-year-old man suffered severe injuries to his leg when he was bitten by a shark south of Forster. The man was surfing near Ruins Camping Ground at Booti Booti at around 9 o’clock when he was attacked. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter picked up the patient from Pacific Palms Bowling Club before taking him to John Hunter Hospital. The man appeared to be in good spirits when he arrived, giving a thumbs up to waiting cameras.
- There’s been another protest at parliament house in Canberra. Members of the same pro refugee group that disrupted question time yesterday, have today abseiled down the front of the building unfurling a banner.
- The final message from the pilot of the doomed Colombia flight has revealed his aircraft was running out of fuel – before the plane crashed into a mountain, killing 71 people.
