Newcastle’s second round match at the Country Championships has been abandoned after a hail storm late this afternoon.
The match was shortened to 38 overs after overnight rain, and it wasn’t until early afternoon before play got underway.
The storm hit in the 16th over of Newcastle’s innings, with the match called a draw.
Newcastle appeared to be in control, with Tom Allen taking three wickets and Dan Morton bagging two.
Newcastle takes on the Central Coast tomorrow.
