The Newcastle Muslim Association opened the doors of its Wallsend mosque today, in a bid to break down barriers with the community.
Members of the public had the chance to participate in a range of activities, including a Q and A, to learn more about the religion.
“Inside the mosque the public are sitting and are asking the questions to the religious leaders who are there and they can answer their questions openly and friendly,” said Salwan Ameen from the Newcastle Muslim Association.
