A 23-year-old man will face Newcastle Local Court today, following an assault in Belmont North last month.
The accused was taken into custody one month after a 26-year-old man was found unconscious with head injuries on Green Street.
The injured man was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
The accused was charged with a number of offences including intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
