Indigenous service provider Awabakal has launched a campaign, to address the health inequity that exists for Aboriginal people in the Hunter.
Using local ambassadors like surgeon Kelvin Kong, the initiative aims to encourage people to take a proactive approach to their health.
“About 80 per cent of chronic disease is preventable so we’re aiming to address the risk factors that are associated with chronic disease by using local people who do this on a daily basis,” said Awabakal CEO Raylene Gordon.
