The Department of Planning is calling for community feedback on plans to expand a mine in the Hunter Valley.
Peabody Energy is seeking to extend operations at its South Wambo mine, west of Singleton.
Under the proposal, the current underground mining approval would last another seven years to 2032, and open-cut by three years to 2020.
It would increase coal production from 7.5 to 9.75 million tonnes a year.
Submissions close on May 13.
