Hunter New England Health has issued a reminder to parents to immunise children against whooping cough.
It comes after a recent spike in cases was reported in Gunnedah, Inverell and Tamworth.
Whooping cough spreads easily and for young children it can be deadly.
Vaccinations can be received at a GP, and are free of charge.
