School rugby players are taking the opportunity to play under the Friday night lights, with 780 participants hitting the field for the 10-week competition in Tamworth.
Scrum schools will be introduced this year, along with plans to get students registered with clubs.
“Ultimately we’d like the three clubs in Tamworth, which is the Tri-Colours in the junior format, the Pirates and the Magpies to give a hand to run this competition.”
Teams from Quirindi, Gunnedah and Barraba are also participating.
