AGL TO FUND GLOUCESTER WATER STUDY

Gloucester Council’s fight to secure an independent water study to test the potential impact of AGL’s coal seam gas project, has taken a step forward.

The energy company has offered to fund a basin-wide study to be led by council, as well as a full time water scientist for 18-months.

Councillors agreed to the proposals at yesterday’s council meeting and is now seeking legal advice to work out the terms of the agreement.

  1. You can’t do an independent study that is funded by the industry. Unless the industry hands the money over with no strings attached and has no involvement whatsoever in the research, other than to provide information as requested.
