SOUTH SOLITARY ISLAND TOURS

South Solitary Island at Coffs Harbour could become a major tourist
destination when a planned upgrade of the heritage buildings is completed.

The island, with its historic lighthouse, hasn’t been occupied for more than 30 years.

Access to the island by sea is extremely difficult, but now the National Parks and Wildlife Service say helicopter tours could soon become a regular feature.

Works to upgrade the island’s amenities are now underway and will be completed in around three weeks.
