Muswellbrook-based Japanese runner Sachio Shimose has won the Maitland Mile in a thrilling finish.
A small field of elite athletes lined up for the third annual race.
Four minutes and 27 seconds later, Shimose edged out Angus Baldwin from the Central Coast.
Metford’s Kim Fletcher was the first female across the line, while youngster Zac Perry outclassed the rest of his family.
The Mile is part of the River Run event, which attracted almost 1000 entries.
