PARENTS SLAM ‘STRICT’ NO HAT-NO PLAY POLICY

Parents are slamming a Gold Coast School’s “no hat-no play policy”, claiming it’s barbaric and cruel.

They claim forgetful students are forced to sit on a bench during both lunch-breaks, and aren’t allowed to move.

  1. I agree, as another parent at the school I support this policy. I was asked to sign a petition against this today and would not. We as Queenslanders need to protect future generations from skin cancers and the education starts here.

  2. Additional comment, ‘I agree with the schools policy of sun smart’. Obviously a selfish parent that does not care for their child’s well being. Will be interesting to know if in years time she is slamming the government on why they did not educate our kids on the dangers of the sun.

  3. Interesting comment in your story NBN, is it forgetful students or forgetful parents! Once again we have an example of someone who, rather than taking responsibility for a mistake and actually learning from this so it won’t happen again, instead choosing to come out and blame someone else.
If this has been the school policy for a while, why is this the first time we’ve heard of a parent with an issue?
Sounds more like a parent with issues!
Harden up dear and take some responsibility, or else enrol you kid in a school that doesn’t take skin cancer as seriously.

  4. Ps Shame on the media for even covering this story. When was the last time you did a ” good news story ” about this school . Look hard. That’s right ….it would have been awhile if at all. Get real NBN and start posting REAL journalism.

  5. Hahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NBN, you need to focus on real news, not BS coming from a trouble-making mother of a school.
Gaven Primary School’s “policies” that are in place for the safety and protection of our children, are necessary and by no means “barbaric”. I laugh out loud at this pathetic woman’s attempt to bring shame upon the school and it’s policies and procedures.
If she is so concerned with the manner used by the school faculty and staff to help keep our children “sun-smart”, then perhaps she should be removing her kids from Gaven Primary and enrolling them elsewhere….. where I’m sure it will take only minimal time for her to find a reason to call back the news cameras and complain about something another school is doing wrong.
The woman making the accusations in this story is, quite simply, an idiot. Wake up NBN, how about you do a little research into our school before the next time you choose to run such a lame and pointless story.

ps….. Gaven Primary School in many ways has improved dramatically in the last few years, especially when it comes to it’s policies and procedures…… just sayin’.
