IPART TO DETERMINE SPECIAL RATE VARIATION REQUESTS

Five councils on the north coast have applied to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal for a special rate variation.
While the Tweed Shire has requested a relatively small 2-point-8 per-cent single year increase and Lismore City, 3-point-six per-cent, the Clarence Valley has applied for a 37 per-cent cumulative increase over five years.
Further south, Great Lakes and Greater Taree City Councils have applied for 20-point-7 and 49-point-two per-cent increases.
All applications will be determined by mid May, and could be applied to rates for the 2016 to 17 year.
