SURF LIFESAVING’S DRONE PROPOSAL SET INTO MOTION

Central Coast Surf Lifesaving has proposed a drone search and rescue program, to the national body.
Using a $345,000 grant awarded during the state election, the organisation is looking to commission a fleet of drones for the region’s most dangerous stretches.
The drones would be equipped with infrared cameras, and will have the ability to drop rescue tubes to patients in the water – dramatically cutting down response times.
The proposal will be considered next month.
