Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has begun a recycling trial aimed at reducing the amount of drink containers being discarded across the region.
The initiative was launched this morning by mayor Peter Besseling as part of National Recycling Week.
For the next three months, there’ll be special yellow recycling bins for plastic bottles and aluminium cans.
The trial will help determine the best sites for council to install permanent public recycling bins in the future.
