MORE THAN 3,000 EXPECTED AT COAL SEAM GAS RALLY

More than 3000 people are expected at tomorrow’s anti-coal seam gas protest in Muwillimbah.

‘Rock the Gate’ has been months in the making, with a few hiccups along the way.

Radio broadcaster Alan Jones was dumped as key speaker, after his controversial comments about the Prime Minister’s father.

Tweed Mayor Barry Longland has acknowledged the rally, march and concert will be largely symbolic.

“Still symbols are important sometimes and the object of this is to get a message back to the state and federal governments that we don’t want this in our shire.”

It starts at 10’clock New South Wales time at the showgrounds.
