The region’s top junior athletes are being encouraged to register for this summer’s Northern Inland Academy of Sport programs.
11 sports have training squads, including netball and hockey.
After running a 15-a-side and sevens rugby programs last season, NIAS now only has one for the shortened version of the game.
While individuals who don’t compete in the nominated sports are recommended to apply for the ‘Lonestar’ program, which has recently had a BMX rider and sprinters.
Trials are expected to commence in November.
