For the third year in a row, the Peel Schools Rugby League Carnival has been cancelled.
Confusion over player insurance has forced the organising committee to call off the 2015 edition, claiming the risk is too great.
While juniors who play for clubs outside of school are covered, it’s unclear whether those registered to other sports are also insured if they’re injured representing their school.
Country Rugby League now runs all regional carnivals, and discussions will be held over the next 12 months to ensure Australia’s oldest schoolboy tournament returns next year.
