ROAD’S FUTURE IN DOUBT

The Nambucca and Bellingen Shire Councils are seeking public comment on proposals for the Bellingen to Bowraville Road which has been closed for the past 18 months.

The road was extensively damage by landslips during flooding in 2009.

A report, which includes a number of repair options, has now been posted to the council’s websites.

Among the options is closing the road and repairing just the northern and southern sections of the popular tourist drive.

The estimated cost of repairing all 42 landslips is around $30-million.
