Roads and Maritime Services has reduced the speed limit, along a section of the Lakes Way at Rainbow Flat, in response to community concerns.
Greater Taree City Council called for a review of the speed limit earlier this year, following a number of serious crashes, including one which claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman.
The limit along the stretch of road has now been dropped from 90 to 80 kilometres per hour.
