The Newell highway from Melbourne to Brisbane is about to get a major makeover.
The federal government has committed $265-million to build new overtaking lanes between Tocumwal and Goondiwindi as well as new pavement from Narrabri to Moree.
Narrabri’s Northern Inland Port is also receiving a $7.8 million upgrade to expand storage capacities.
The funds come as freight movements along the corridor are expected to surge.
