BAIRD GOVERNMENT VOWS TO GIVE MORE SUPPORT MINING AFFECTED TOWNS

The Baird government has vowed to give more financial support to mining affected towns if it’s re-elected at the end of the month.
For Gunnedah it means the town could finally see some funding under the Resources for Regions program, after it failed a number of times to meet the eligibility criteria.
Deputy Premier Troy Grant said yesterday in the next term of government the program would be expanded to include all communities affected by mining.
Under the expansion Liverpool Pains Shire Council could also apply for funding.
