CROSS PARK LIGHTS UP

New lights and new opportunities are ahead for Tamworth’s Gipps’ Street fields.

The state government and Tamworth Regional Council earmarking almost $300,000 to see lighting installed at Cross Park, with the ability to host up to semi-professional competitions.

“It’s also multi purpose. We can train at night, take it out of the heat, more clubs can train, more kids can train, takes it out of the heat and the danger zone,” Tim Coates, Northern Inland Football.

It will also play host to firefighting championships and tent accommodation for the country music festival.

And with participation at an all time high for Northern Inland Football, the funding is more than welcome.

“Ultimately, if you’ve got good facilities it promotes the participation rates, and I’m all about getting kids off the couch off their iPads, getting them off their phones and getting them moving, getting them active and a healthy lifestyle,” Kevin Anderson, Member for Tamworth.
