Port Macquarie surfer Matt Banting will meet with former world champion Mick Fanning in the second round of The Hurley Pro at Trestles in California.
Banting came second in his Round 1 heat against Brazilians Wiggolly Dantas and Adriano de Souza, finishing with a score of 10.9.
