Support is growing in Port Stephens for council to secure the future of the Shoal Bay Wharf.

Council closed the wharf due to public safety concerns last month, but residents have since rallied, gathering more than 3,000 signatures for a petition calling on council to ensure the landmark’s future.

The 60-year-old concrete and timber structure is likely to be demolished, but a replacement could cost close to $500,000.
