New South Wales paramedics are threatening industrial action this weekend.

They’ll refuse to attend TAB race meetings, unless the government comes to the negotiating table in a dispute over staffing arrangements.

  1. Great ‘yes minister’ comment from Minister George Souris (the Hon.???), don’t address the issue whatever you do Minister, you might actually be seen as an advocate for your electorate constituency. All these words that are more than four letters have meanings. Feel free to look them up anytime in the dictionary or get in contact with me and I will help you out.

    Absolutely no regards

  2. Mr Souris, You obviously place the holding of a horse race above the timely response of our paramadics to the sick and injured in your electorate, Perhaps you might make a visit to one of the Ambulance stations in your electorate and obtain dose of reality.

  3. Talk is cheap from both ministers, before the last election Jillian Skinner was the ambos friend, getting info to slam the Labour Government. Now she has a chance to make real changes and personally save live, where is she hiding behind the skirts of Jamie Vernon and Mick Willis (ASNSW Managers). The ASNSW and the NSW Health Minister have turned country people into second rate citizens effectively putting dollars before patients. These managers need to sit down and take a long hard look at their own documents namely the “Services Values” They expect on road ambos to follow the “Services Values” but obviously believe that they are above embracing them as managers and leaders of the Service. The community expects and deserves a first rate ambulance service not one rules by the almighty dollar.

  4. It’s not all just rural, the service is falling down around their ears in Metro with few ever getting a meal break, running large distances due to a lack of available resources (with bad outcomes every day) and having rosters staffed with over 30% of as yet unqualified Paramedics. Yet they will wonder why sick leave is skyrocketing and staff are looking at leaving! And we generally do not have the back up of on call. This must be fixed across the state, LIVES are the most important thing…seems the Pollies have forgotten that over the last 30 years. They announce 900 new teachers, 2,475 new nurses, 500 new police yet 0 new paramedics. MADNESS and Skinner knows better!!!

  5. It is lovely to have all the bells and whistles- clott busting drugs, defibrilators and the like! And im sure that the public feel safer knowing that we have access and training to be able to use these modern medical marvels! However- I am certain that the public would sleep MUCH MUCH better- safe in the knowledge that should the worst happen and they needed to call the ambulance service, a crew of dedicated professionals would be assigned to their needs as soon as humanly possible. How are all your family members Ms Skinner? No plans to call an ambulance in the near future? I pray that they are all indeed well, and that if you should need the services of an ambulance you will be kind to the paramedics that eventually arrive, safe in the knowledge that it is not their fault they got there late!!
And Mr Souris, I will give you a tip ( and not a tip on the Melb.Cup I might add!!)-either be an advocate or abdicate!!! There is no room for 2nd best in the care of our patients! If you cannot see that, then we ned to find somebody who can.
