Newcastle Council’s new home on Stewart Avenue is on track to open in October.
But while the council offices will be there by then, the ground floor customer service station may not be up and running until early 2020.
“We will have a temporary reception set up in the month of October to ensure that customers that are coming in if they want to pay their bills – of coarse most of that is done online now – but if any customers are wanting to come in they’ll be to do that as soon as the building opens.”
The CEO says the move remains on budget.
