Meanwhile two of the region’s leading kayakers have pressed their claims for selection in the Australian Kayak team today at the Grand Prix series in Penrith.

After winning silver at last year’s world championships, Lachlan Tame again teamed up with Olympic champion Ken Wallace in the K2, but they missed out on first place by just .3 of a second.

Meanwhile fellow Avoca paddler Riley Fitzsimmons’ junior K4 crew almost upstaged their more experienced opposition, also finishing second by a slim margin.
