Port Macquarie’s Sam Bastin overcame a hand injury to take out the Combat8 Mixed Martial Arts featherweight title over the weekend.
The 22-year-old dropped a staggering 15 kilograms in six weeks to take on Sydney’s Glenn Purvis in Newcastle.
He won on the night by a technical knockout in the fifth round.
The new title holder is now back in training, but is unsure when his next fight will take place.
