TIME RUNNING OUT FOR COMMUNITY AS SENSITIVE SITE GOES TO AUCTION
Time is running out for a community group to prevent the sale of a controversial site in Port Stephens, which neighbours the Mambo Wetlands Reserve.
The six hectare plot was put on the market by the Department of Education last month, citing a surplus of unused land.
More than 11,000 people have signed a petition to stop the sale.
“It would be good for the minister to listen and to act, which is stopping the sale. Port Stephens Council has even made representations to the minister saying that they would like to see the sale stopped,” says Member for Port Stephens, Kate Washington.
The online auction went live today, and will run until Thursday.
