MAN CHARGED AFTER MINIBUS CRASHES INTO POLICE CAR

A man has been charged with drink-driving after crashing a minibus into a parked police car on the north coast last night.

Just 11.30pm, a man was driving a Mitsubishi minibus north of Wharf Street at Tweed Heads, along with four passengers.

The minibus crashed into a police car that was parked outside the police station.

Police heard the noise and ran outside to find the 52-year-old driver and his passengers out of the bus, all uninjured.

The driver was breath tested at the scene, and allegedly gave a positive reading.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he returned another reading of 0.065.

He was given a Court Attendance Notice for low range drink driving and negligent driving.

He’s due to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court next month.
