The Flying Fox Action Committee of Tamworth has lodged an application to see the threatened species status of grey headed flying foxes re-evaluated.
It follows residents’ struggles with thousands of flying foxes lining the banks of the Peel River in recent months, before many moved to Armidale.
The committee will also be speaking at workshop held by Hunter New England Health next month.
The group has collected more than 2500 signatures in support.
