A wanted Newcastle man is now behind bars, after being caught during a routine police patrol in Wallsend this morning.
Officers say they spotted him sitting in an unreturned hire car around 1.30am.
The 32-year-old man, wanted in relation to a fraud matter, then ran into a nearby house and locked the door.
Officers found him hiding in a bedroom inside the house.
He was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged.
He will now appear at Newcastle Local Court.
