The Northern Rivers could soon be home to a World Surf League event, with Ballina Shire Council in discussion with officials, about hosting a one-off competition at Lennox Head.
Pat Moreton Lookout has been flagged as the ideal location.
“So many world champions have come from this area, and near world champions, and I think to actually have world champions, it just brings it much closer,” Ballina Shire Mayor, David Wright, said.
Council is expected to make a final decision by Wednesday.
